Program Description:

COSTA RICA SUMMER I: COFFEE AND CHOCOLATE: A TASTE OF SUSTAINABILITY


PROGRAM DETAILS

  • Term: Summer Session I
  • Credits: 4 semester-hour credits (8 credits if taken with Session II)
  • Prerequisites: No course prerequisites: 18 years of age
  • Application Deadline: Rolling admissions. Early applications encouraged
  • Financial Aid: All accepted students can apply for need-based scholarships, grants, and loans


OVERVIEW

Coffee and cacao are two of the world’s most popular crops, and both are intimately intertwined with the culture, ecology, and history of Costa Rica. This summer, get a taste of Costa Rica as you explore the connections between these iconic crops and issues of conservation, social justice, and sustainable development.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHT:
  • Visit coffee and chocolate farms to see a range of production and processing techniques, and learn about the role of different crops in agroecosystems.
